ANDREAS JAKWERTH—Photographer Visual Identity Creative Direction Print/Website Design
ANDREAS JAKWERTH is a photographer from Vienna, Austria, working for international editorial and advertising clients like Die Zeit, Financial Times, Konfekt, Monocle, Spiegel, Stern, Jung von Matt/Donau, Merlicek&Partner, Nikon, OMV, Österreich Werbung, Samsung and others.
For his new visual identity we decided to do something very simple but precise, to really let his photographs stand out and “do the talking”, as we say. A carefully chosen and customised typeface together with a bold and bright red (Andreas is a redhead, his nickname used to be “reddish”) make up the framework to present his work in a wide array of applications, always giving the most space and attention possible to his images.
His new website was developed with the same concept and strategy. The idea was to make it look and feel like a magazine, curating and editing “stories” rather than single images. The cursor becomes a red dot when you go over the images, inspired by the little round stickers photographers used to use to choose the best images on contact sheets when that was still a thing. Good times.
